Thank You City of Barrie
We are so proud of our partnership with the City of Barrie – their support of Kempenfest has been astounding over the years. And this year, Barrie City Council voted to give us some relief in our event permit fees due to the reduced space we have had to deal with last year and this year. A special thank you to Onalee Groves and the rest of the Cultural Department staff who put together a report on Kempenfest (unsolicited we might add) to demonstrate the impact Kempenfest has on our community, and as a result their recommendation for relief sailed through council.
The Kempenfest team is hard at work on planning for 2017. The city has confirmed we will have the same general space we had last year – which most people seemed to enjoy – more compact – less walking. The Robertson Midway will anchor the event in Centennial park – and the Main Stage will anchor the event in the South Shore Park. We anticipate the arts and crafts exhibits will be trimmed back (more art, less crafts) so for those who make this show a must-see, you will not be disappointed.
Application forms for Huronia Festival of Arts & Crafts are available HERE
Dates for next year’s event are Saturday August 5th through Monday August 7th.
The entertainment committee is hard at work, with the goal of putting on the best weekend entertainment ever. Stay tuned for announcements in the coming weeks.
